Singing Update

Singing Update – I’ve received some calls, facebook and email messages today from friends asking me how I made out last night in Rusagonis at the NBGMF event.

Me Playing 1
Well, I’m rusty and I even forgot how to play guitar. Lol. Seriously though, I made out good. I spent a lot of time massaging my neck and doing warm up trills and I stayed well hydrated prior to getting on stage. Danny Crain did a super job balancing the sound. He made it real easy for me to find my way through each song. I could hear great in the monitor and didn’t strain to hear my voice. I was a bit shaky vocally getting started but it became easier as my fears calmed and I settled down. I sang five songs in all and that was more than enough to get my feet wet again. I warmed down afterwards as well with some massaging, trills and a heating pad.

My throat felt pretty good today as well. No tenderness but I was speaking softly to the kids and answering calls.

I praise God for continued healing and the opportunity to sing again. I’m also grateful for all the prayers and concern from family and friends. I won’t be booking any tours next week or anything, Lol, I’m just gonna take each day as it comes and keep working on strengthening my throat and vocals.

One of the big lessons I’ve learned in all of this is…..to speak on purpose. Have something to say before opening my mouth. To speak words that bring life and enhance the lives of those who hear them. After all, proverbs tells us the power of life and death, is in the tongue.
